48-Hour Weekend Liver, Colon and Kidney Detox

The Detox System of the Body

Our body has its own internal detoxification system. The liver, the kidneys and the colon are the three critical body organs that are involved.

The liver

The liver is the first defense organ against toxins. It functions as a filter and prevents toxins in food to pass into the blood stream.

The colon

The colon includes bacteria that create healthy and unhealthy chemicals. The main role of the colon is to remove toxins before they do any harm to your body.

Kidneys

Kidneys are the body organs that filter the blood all the time and eliminate toxins through the urine.

If you want your detox diet work, you need to support your body consuming the right nutrients. It is based on consuming certain foods that will help the three important organs function properly. You will need to prepare and consume these meals and snacks two days in a row.

Breakfast

Quinoa with plums: start your day consuming quinoa, which is rich in protein, phosphorus and fiber, add some dried plums, which are also rich in fiber.

Both foods work as a laxative.

They are therefore very helpful in detoxifying the body.

See how you can prepare a great drink to eliminate toxins:

INGREDIENTS

  • Half a cup of quinoa flakes or cooked
  • 1/3 cup chopped prunes
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup rice milk or other vegetable (such as sesame or sunflower, but NOT soy!)

METHOD OF PREPARATION

Place the water in a small saucepan and add half a cup of quinoa, a pinch of cinnamon and a teaspoon (tsp) grated ginger. Mix all the ingredients and bring to a boil. After the boil, reduce heat, cover the pan and simmer for another 10 minutes. After that, add the prunes and rice milk. Cover again and cook for another 5 minutes. Then, add a spoon (soup) and ground flaxseed and mix again before consuming it.

Snacks between Meals

There are many natural options so you do not starve.

For example, be free to eat: cucumber slices, celery and radishes or any other fresh vegetables.

If you want, you can mix them and add a little olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
